Burn - Now and Then
Violeta Vitanova is a freelance artist, working in the field of performance and contemporary dance based in Sofia, Bulgaria. She graduated the National School of Dance Arts in Sofia and after completing a degree in Ballet Pedagogy from the National Music Academy in Sofia, Violeta returned to the School of Dance Arts as a teacher where she currently leads
a contemporary dance class.
As part of her specialization she attended the one-year program
of Collectif du Marchepied in Lausanne, Switzerland. During that time she was also an intern at the Linga Dance Company.
As a dancer, she has performed for Cie Zevada, Sierre, Switzerland and company Continuum - Brice Leroux, Brussels, Belgium.
In Bulgaria Violeta has been performing regularly at venues such as Theatre Laboratory “Sfumato”, “Red House Center for Culture and Debate”, National theatre “Ivan Vazov” and recently in “DNK” Space for Contemporary Dance and Performance, Sofia.
In 2006 together with Stanislav Genadiev she established a contemporary dance production company.
Their first successful performance was "Imago" (2006), with which they earned “Ikar” in the category Debut - the first award for a contemporary dance project given by the
Union of Artists in Bulgaria.
With their next performance “25.03” (2007) they won the prize of the International Jury, at “Margarita Arnaydova” International Competition of Ballet Arabesque, Sofia.
In 2013 Violeta and Stanislav took their second prize “Ikar” award in the category for Contemporary Dance and Performance, for their choreography and performing in “Hamlet”, directed by Javor Gardev, “Ivan Vazov” National Theater, Sofia.
Since 2019 Violeta is performing for United Cowboys.
