Hanne Schillemans (Ghent, 1988) is internationally active as a freelance dancer, performer, teacher and choreographer.
During her dance-training at the School of Fine and Performing Arts Tilburg (NL), where she graduated in 2011, Hanne became captivated by the theatrical power of the body in motion. She continued her training by attending masterclasses with Les Ballets
C de la B, Batsheva Dance Company (ISR), Akram Khan, Tero Saarinen(FIN), Anouk Van Dijk, Uri Ivgi, Jan Zobel and others.
Hanne has worked with United Cowboys, De Munt/La Monnaie, Alla Sigalova, Theater Tol, Dirk Brossé, Teatro Comunale
Di Bologna, Compagnie Monica, Brussels Philharmonic,
De Kwekerij, Helma Melis and others.
Next to being a performer, Hanne teaches classes
in contemporary dance.
In her work as a choreographer, sources of inspiration are subjects like societal issues, the future of technology and human behavioral patterns. She is fascinated by cross-over settings, where dance is connected to other artforms such as theatre, music, architecture, photography and visual arts and is in search of possibilities to harmonize these forms of expression into new and surprising concepts.
Since 2016 she is putting her own artistic vision out there with Spin Echo, a performance art collective which she founded together with composer Ralph Timmermans. In 2017-2018 Spin Echo created ‘Just before AI’, in coöperation with the band Longen. In 2020 they are creating ‘GLITCH’, a dancetheatre production for 10+. Up next, they will create ‘Blue Heroes’.
